"New kitten - What your veterinarian wants you to know?

Bringing a new kitten into your home is an exciting and joyful experience. As responsible pet owners, it’s essential to provide your new feline friend with the care they need to thrive. In this article, we will share valuable insights on the topic: “New kitten – What your veterinarian wants you to know?”, providing you with essential information to ensure a smooth transition and a healthy start for your new kitten.

This post is a First-person narrative experience by a common cat parent which discusses his views/experience about his first vet visit. Let us have a look.

Looking for the best tips and tricks before adopting a kitten? Here is everything I wish I knew before getting a kitten in my life.

The transition from single to pet owner, especially kitten, is a considerable change, and I remember how scared I was before buying a new pet. I spent hours researching cat home/litter ideas, study tips, how to keep them fed and healthy, and anything else you could think of wanting to know before buying a new kitten.

Now that I’ve had my lovely kitten for two years, I’ve learned a lot and can tell you what you need to know before getting a new kitty firsthand.

Hopefully, this has made you feel more at ease about having your first pet and has made you even more excited about it!

This post is all about what I wish I knew before buying a new kitten.

1. It is critical to communicate.

As a new pet owner, I ensure the most important thing is the pet’s health status and its history of the disease, vaccination, etc. Make sure you talk about your pet’s treatment expectations. Is there a total cure? How do you deal with their pain in the past? Is there a hospice? Most vets, including me, will not order unnecessary tests or treatments. Still, I need to know what level of treatment you expect for your pet and your emotional and financial constraints to provide the best care possible. So, never hesitate to tell everything about your new kitten/pet when you brought it to any vet.

2. The more data/questions you have — the better.

Bringing a list of issues your pet is having, things you want to raise, and questions you want to ask will ensure you don’t miss something when you come in. When I visit a vet, a lot is going on, and it’s helpful to have all of the relevant details on hand when I arrive for my pet’s appointment.

3. There are no such things as stupid questions.

If my pet’s behavior changes or I have any questions, I prefer to call and inquire about it. Often strange behavior is nothing to be concerned about, but it may also be a symptom of a more significant health issue. Never be afraid to contact a veterinary practitioner to get their opinion as I do.

4. The earlier you contact a vet, the better.

In a similar vein, I don’t put off dealing with a problem my pet is having for too long. Within 24 hours, specific pet issues may become emergencies. Quick intervention and early care will save my pet’s life and ensure complete recovery in many cases.

Specifically in the case of kittens

  • Sweet Home: I provide the best home, litter, equipment, toys, and treadmill for their welfare and healthy grooming.
  • A good food: I provide excellent quality food, usually kibble, which is best for weaned kittens.
  • Getting into the family: Give max love and spend some time daily petting your adorable kitten. I do this regularly, and today my kitty loves me more than I do her
  • Plans for the future: I plan to ensure my kitty is healthy by scheduling vets to visit and plan timely vaccination shots.
