ANTIBIOTIC INJECTABLES

A) Penicillins

Class: Bactericidal

Mechanism: Cell wall inhibition

Indications: infections caused by any Gram-Positive Bacteria and penicillin-sensitive organism iincludes Skin Infections, Blackleg, and Urinary tract infections (at higher Doses), Bacterial pneumonia, URT, Strangles

Antagonists: usually with  Tetracyclines, Paromomycin and Chloramphenicol

Synergism: usually with Aminoglycosides

Description: It can cause Allergy, vomiting, diarrhea the life saving drug known as

Adrenaline must be gien immediately if severe respiratory distress is there.

Narrow Spectrum Penicillins – ANTIBIOTIC (PENICILLIN GROUP) USED IN FARM ANIMALS

Indications: Good Results in GIT and Skin diseases.

Antagonist: Tetracyclines, Chloramphenicol, Erythromycin, and Cephaloridine.

Description: From GI tract absorbed better than ampicillin
